What are the types of HDMI connector?

HDMI cables consist of multiple pairs of shielded twisted pair cables responsible for transmitting video signals, as well as separate conductors for power, grounding, and other low-speed device communication channels. HDMI connectors are used to terminate cables and connect devices in use. These connectors are trapezoidal in shape with indentations on both corners for precise alignment during insertion, similar to USB connectors. The HDMI standard includes five different types of connectors.

Type A (standard type): This connector uses 19 pins and three differential pairs, with dimensions of 13.9 mm x 4.45 mm, and a slightly larger female head type. This type of connector is electrically backward compatible with DVI-D.

Type B (Dual Link Type): This connector uses 29 pins and six differential pairs, with dimensions of 21.2 mm x 4.45 mm. This type of connector is designed to be used with extremely high-resolution displays, but due to its large size, it has never been used in products. This connector is electrically backward compatible with DVI-D.

Type C (Small): Compared to Type A (Standard), it is smaller in size (10.42 mm x 2.42 mm) but has the same functionality and 19 pin configuration. This type of connector is designed specifically for portable devices.

Type D (Miniature): Compact size, 5.83 mm x 2.20 mm, 19 pins. This connector is similar to a micro USB connector and is designed specifically for small portable devices.

Type E (automotive type): Designed with locking plates to prevent disconnection due to vibration, and equipped with a moisture-proof and dust-proof shell. This type of connector is mainly used for automotive applications and also provides a relay version for connecting consumer A/V products.

All of these connector types include both male and female models, which can flexibly meet various connection needs. These connectors are available in a straight or right angle configuration, with directions divided into horizontal or vertical. Female connectors are usually integrated into signal sources and receiving devices. In addition, adapters and couplers can be used at any time according to different connection configurations. For applications in harsh environments, we also offer sturdy and durable connector models to ensure durability and reliability under harsh conditions.
