Many connectors with cup terminals, such terminal with compact size, but the soldering quality is very important for the connection quality. How to control it? We usually follow IPC-620-A to control it.
Target - Class 1,2,3
• Solder cups having the wire(s) inserted straight in and contact
the back wall or other inserted wires for the full depth of
the cup.

Acceptable - Class 1,2,3
• Wire(s) inserted for full depth of cup, not in contact with
back wall and does not interfere with subsequent assembly
operations.

Defect - Class 2,3
• Solder cup altered to accept oversized wire or wire group.
• Wire placement interferes with subsequent assembly operations.
• Conductor strands cut or modified to fit into the terminal.
Defect - Class 1,2,3
• Strand damage exceeds allowance of Table 3-1.
