At the upcoming CHINAPLAS 2025, BASF will showcase its leading position in the polyurethane sector through a wide range of innovations, and its breakthroughs in innovative polyurethane recycling technologies will also be a highlight of the show. With the "Loop" portfolio, BASF offers a range of polyurethane product solutions that incorporate recycled materials, tailored to the footwear, automotive and synthetic leather industries, and are ready for market introduction.

This technological breakthrough is the result of BASF's unique recyclable polyurethane system: polyurethane waste is sorted and shredded in specialized equipment, in which BASF's patented polyurethane recycling technology uses a range of sophisticated and advanced liquefaction technologies to recover polyurethane products and convert them into high-performance recycled materials that meet market standards and are commercially viable. Eventually, these recycled raw materials can be used to make new polyurethane products, which can be used as practical polyurethane solutions through "Loop". The system gives polyurethane waste, a precious resource, the opportunity to start with the end in mind and create new effects.
Silvia Mok, Vice President and Head of Polyurethanes Business Management Asia Pacific at BASF's Performance Materials business unit, said: "Polyurethane recycling has always been a challenge for the industry. Over the past few years, we have invested heavily in the development of this polyurethane recycling technology. This is not only a major technological advance, but also a breakthrough in the sustainable management of polyurethane materials. BASF's closed-loop recycled polyurethane portfolio 'Loop' focuses on creating more value from waste generated in the polyurethane value chain, demonstrating BASF's relentless commitment to recycling innovation. In the future, we will expand this application to include more industries such as furniture, construction and home appliances. "
