Molex releases VersaBeam that supports the new MXC fiber optic interface ™ Expanded beam MT sleeve technology and single-mode silicon photon active fiber products.

Molex has joined a user community consisting of different suppliers, supporting advanced MXC interfaces that can meet the expected requirements of the next generation of "disassembled" rack servers and computing architectures. MXC connectors and panel mounted socket interfaces support up to 64 optical fibers, reducing the number of components and increasing physical density by 15% compared to industry standard MPO interfaces. The planned MXC products will include cable assemblies, MPO and LC to MXC fan out cables, and panel mounted socket cables, all of which will use single and multi-mode fiber optic types.
Molex's high-speed silicon photonics active fiber products using MXC connectors use single-mode fiber and support a maximum transmission distance of 4km. MolexVersaBeam beam expansion MT sleeve technology provides users with ease of use by expanding the beam diameter and eliminating the need for fiber to fiber contacts. In addition, compared to standard fiber optic interfaces, VersaBeam sleeve technology greatly reduces fiber damage and on-site cleaning requirements, while enhancing the ability to withstand dust and impurities
