How to understand FPC connector specifications and drawings?

FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) connector is a kind of flexible printed circuit board connector, which is used to connect the flexible printed circuit boards between the circuit board and devices such as flat panel displays, camera modules, LED light strips, etc. Beyond light strips, these connectors are also widely used in advanced display systems like our Outdoor LED Display , where stable FPC connections ensure excellent image quality and long-term durability.

Before we can understand the specification sheets and drawings of FPC connectors, we need to know some identifiers and symbols of basic electronic components:

1. Capacitor: C, with the unit of farad (F) or microfarad (μF).

2. Resistor: R, with the unit of ohm (Ω).

3. Inductor: L, with the unit of henry (H) or millihenry (mH).

4. Diode: D.

5. Transistor (Bipolar Junction Transistor): Q.

6. Transistor (General Term): T.

7. Integrated Circuit: IC.

Next, let's take a look at how to understand the specification sheets and drawings of FPC connectors:

Specification Sheet

The specification sheet of an FPC connector includes the following contents:
a. Dimensions: The specification sheet of an FPC connector usually contains the dimensional information of the connector, including parameters such as length, width, and height.
b. Electrical Characteristics: The specification sheet will introduce in detail the electrical characteristics of the connector, including parameters such as rated current, rated voltage, and contact resistance.
c. Material and Environmental Characteristics: The specification sheet will introduce the material and environmental characteristics of the connector, including characteristics such as high-temperature resistance, water resistance, and vibration resistance.
d. Interface Type: The specification sheet will introduce in detail the interface type of the connector, such as SMT (Surface Mount Technology), DIP (Dual In-line Package), etc.
e. Application Fields: The specification sheet will introduce the application fields of the connector, such as mobile phones, tablets, cameras, etc.

Drawings

The drawings of an FPC connector include the following contents:
a. Interface Layout: The drawings will show the interface layout of the connector, including the number and position of the interfaces, etc.
b. Dimensions and Appearance: The drawings will show in detail the dimensions and appearance of the connector, including length, width, height, the shape of the casing, etc.
c. Pin Definition: The drawings will introduce in detail the pin definition of the connector, such as VCC, GND, DATA, etc.
d. Interface Type: The drawings will show the interface type of the connector, such as SMT, DIP, etc.
e. Identifiers and Symbols: The drawings will use identifiers and symbols to represent different parts and functions of the connector.

To understand the specification sheets and drawings of FPC connectors, one needs to have a certain basic knowledge of electronic components and relevant industry experience. It is also necessary to understand the various parameters in the specification sheets.
