What is the Flat Cable Discrete Wire Termination – Damage spec in IPC-A-620?
When we manufacturing Flat cable, the wire termination may have some damage during the process. How the judge the damage is acceptable? Top-cable strictly follow IPC-A-620 spec during the cable manufacturing process.
Target - Class 1,2,3
• There is no damage in the construction of the slot(s) on the circled area shown in Figure 6-32.

Acceptable - Class 2,3
• Minor deformation not piercing wire insulation on both sides of the slots.
• Minor damage in the holder tabs does not affect functionality.

Defect - Class 2,3
• Tool damage on the connection area.
• Slot(s) twisted, bent or otherwise damaged.
• Corrosion damage or other detrimental impurities on the surface of the slot.
• Plating of holder damaged so that the base metal is exposed.
• Contact damage that causes the side beams of the wire slot to not be parallel with each other.
