Molex, a global connector manufacturer, plans to invest 1.2 billion yuan to expand production in Shijie Town, Dongguan, focusing on the production of AI server high-speed connection lines. This marks a key boost to Dongguan's competitiveness in the global high-end electronic information manufacturing layout.
On the afternoon of January 29th, Li Hui, Deputy Mayor of Dongguan City, Sun Haibo, Deputy Secretary General of the Municipal Government, and Mai Weilin, Director of the Municipal Investment Promotion Bureau, met with Aldo Lopez, Jae Hoon Lee, Matthijs Holstvoogd, Senior Vice President of Molex USA, and their delegation. Leaders Xiang Jiexin, Yan Yan, Li Fuquan, and Li Minchao from Shijie Town accompanied the discussion. At the meeting, a promotional video about investing in Dongguan was played, and the government and enterprises had in-depth exchanges on the details of project promotion, finalized the pace of implementation and production, and discussed future directions for deepening cooperation.
Li Hui stated that Molex's industrial layout is highly compatible with Dongguan's electronic information and high-end equipment manufacturing industries. This capital increase and expansion is an important measure for Molex to seize new opportunities in the industry and lay out key AI tracks. Molex Group also admitted that the government's attention and support will safeguard the project, and government enterprise cooperation will provide efficient services throughout the entire process.
For this expansion, Molex plans to invest 1.2 billion yuan in the Shijie factory area in Dongguan to carry out decoration, production line upgrading and expansion, focusing on the production of high-speed connection lines for AI servers, promoting the automation upgrade of multiple processes such as wire processing, soldering, injection molding, and testing. The main focus will be on the design and production of wire harness and cable assembly products. After the project is completed, it will achieve a leap in annual output value and significantly increase the scale of new output value.
As one of the world's top three connector manufacturers, Molex settled in Shijie, Dongguan in 1999 and has been deeply rooted for more than 20 years, becoming a backbone of the local industry. By 2025, the company's industrial output value will rank third in Shijie Town and 82nd in Dongguan City. Its main products include connectors, fiber optic cable components, etc., serving markets such as automotive, consumer, industrial, telecommunications infrastructure, and data centers.
