Mitsubishi Chemical Expands Flame Retardant Polymer Production Lines in China And France

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation recently announced plans to expand its flame retardant polymer production capacity at its factories in China and France. These flame retardant polymers are mainly composed of polyolefins and thermoplastic elastomers, and are mainly used for applications such as wire and cable sheaths.

This capacity expansion is a decision made based on the significant increase in demand for flame-retardant electrical wire and cable sheath materials in many industries, including transportation, telecommunications, construction, and natural gas.

Mitsubishi Chemical's flame retardant compounds have a rich product line that supports various flame retardancy and heat resistance. They have achieved high flexibility and excellent formability in extrusion molding through self-developed formula technology. With these characteristics, Mitsubishi Chemical flame retardant compounds are widely used in application fields such as automotive cables, solar power system cables, sputtering tubes, etc. In recent years, especially in China and Europe, their demand has continued to grow.

Mitsubishi Chemical announced that its factory located in Suzhou High tech Zone, China will complete expansion and start production in April 2025, while its French factory will complete expansion in January 2026.
