After the HDMI Forum first released the HDMI 2.2 interface specification in January this year, it officially released the complete specification for HDMI 2.2 version today.

HDMI 2.2 cables must be labeled with the word ULTRA96, which indicates that they support bandwidth up to 96Gbps.
This label ensures that the purchaser is purchasing a product that meets their certification requirements, as the current HDMI 2.1 cable only supports a maximum bandwidth of 48Gbps. The HDMI Forum will test each length of cable to ensure compliance and must have a label on the cable.
IT Home learned from the specifications that HDMI 2.2 can transmit content to supporting devices at a maximum resolution of 12K at 120 fps or 16K at 60 fps, and also supports lossless panchromatic formats such as 8K resolution at 60 fps/4:4:4 and 4K resolution at 240 fps/4:4:4, with color depths of 10 bit and 12 bit.
In addition, HDMI 2.2 is equipped with a new feature called Delay Indication Protocol (LIP), which can improve audio and video synchronization. This will be particularly useful for more complex system configurations such as audio and video receivers or soundbars.
With the official release of the complete specifications for HDMI version 2.2 by the HDMI Forum, certified cables and compatible devices are expected to be released soon
