Recently, LG Chem signed a cooperation agreement (MOU) with South Korean EV charging station cable manufacturer EL ELECTIC to enter the electric vehicle charging cable market using high value-added PVC materials.

According to the agreement, LG Chem will supply EL ELECTRIC with ultra-high polymerization degree PVC materials suitable for high-speed charging cables of electric vehicles, and collaborate with global customers to seek new opportunities. PVC is a common and versatile plastic with a wide range of applications. Maximizing the monomer binding quantity of ultra-high polymerization degree PVC, it has outstanding heat resistance and flexibility. The charging cable made of this material is heat-resistant, flame-retardant, and can effectively prevent fires. Its flexibility is about 30% higher than existing materials, and it is easy to recycle and reprocess when discarded.

In addition, LG Chem also collaborates with enterprises to explore high value-added PVC applications, such as automotive high resistance heat wire harnesses, environmentally friendly wear-resistant flooring materials, and automotive seat synthetic leather.
Han Dongye, the head of LG Chem's PVC/Plasticizer Division, stated that providing environmentally friendly and high-performance innovative PVC solutions for electric vehicle charging infrastructure is exciting, and LG Chem will expand cooperation in the electric vehicle industry chain in the future.
