Molex Acquires AirBorn To Enhance Its Strength in The Aerospace Industry

Molex recently announced that it has reached an acquisition agreement with AirBorn, aimed at fully utilizing AirBorn's expertise and skills in aerospace connector technology to further expand Molex's business scope in the aerospace and defense markets. The acquisition plan was confirmed earlier this month, marking that Molex, a leading global provider of connectors and electronic solutions, is strengthening its technological capabilities in the aerospace industry.

The acquired company AirBorn, a manufacturer of aviation connectors with over 60 years of history, focuses on designing and manufacturing rugged connectors and electronic components for global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Its service areas are extensive, covering aerospace and defense, commercial aviation, space exploration, healthcare, and industrial markets. The company has nine manufacturing plants worldwide, located in Edenbridge, Kent, UK, the United States, and Canada.


Molex CEO Joe Nelligan stated in a statement, "By acquiring AirBorn, Molex's strength in the aerospace and defense markets will be significantly enhanced. By combining Molex's extensive engineering capabilities and manufacturing scale, as well as AirBorn's deep expertise in creating robust, durable, and mission critical products, we will be able to more efficiently meet the ever-changing needs of customers in this global market. "

It is worth noting that Molex has not yet disclosed the specific financial details of this acquisition. The acquisition is expected to be completed in early December 2024, subject to meeting standard closing conditions including regulatory approvals.
