Molex, a global leader in the electronics industry and innovator in connectivity technology, has released the VersaBeam Extended Beam Optical (EBO) interconnect solution series. This high-density optical fiber connector product is specially designed for large-scale data center, cloud computing and edge computing environment optimization, using 3M ™ EBO ceramic plug technology reduces sensitivity to dust and debris by increasing the beam diameter between connectors, significantly reducing the need for frequent cleaning, inspection, and maintenance.

VersaBeam EBO technology significantly reduces installation time and complexity by reducing the required number of connections, achieving faster deployment speeds. Trevor Smith, General Manager of Molex Fiber Optic Connectivity Business, said, "The best design is often the simplest, and the Molex VersaBeam EBO connector allows customers to achieve reliable connections with just one click. Installing these connectors does not require special skills, helping users quickly gain the performance and cost advantages of flexible and scalable fiber optic connections
Next generation connectors for future data centers
To meet the continuous expansion needs of AI driven infrastructure, data center operators must minimize infrastructure changes while upgrading bandwidth. Molex VersaBeam EBO technology is particularly suitable for rack and server connections, integrating more fiber optics through ultra small form factor (VSFF) design to maximize rack space utilization.
Kevin Twomey, Global Product Director of 3M's Electronic Materials Solutions Division, said, "Beam expanding optical connectors are the future of high-speed elastic data center infrastructure. We are pleased to collaborate with Molex to revolutionize multi fiber connectivity technology in data centers. Compared to traditional connectors, this technology can significantly reduce pollution risks while improving deployment speed and performance, making it revolutionary. "
The Molex VersaBeam EBO connector provides high fiber density and is not limited by spring forces, enabling precise alignment and plug and play assembly. The product offers single-mode and multi-mode options, including 12 core, 16 core connectors, and high-density models with 144 cores integrated into a single connector. It supports more flexible system design, simplifies cable routing in small spaces, and accelerates the data center deployment process.
