Recently, LYB, Premix, and Maillefer collaborated to launch a power cable solution that integrates high-performance polypropylene materials, advanced modification technology, and cable manufacturing processes. The solution has technical characteristics and recyclability.
This solution is designed for medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) cables, providing polypropylene (PP) solutions for insulation and semiconductor shielding layers, becoming a new choice for traditional cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) systems.
In terms of professional technical collaboration, the three companies each showcase their strengths. Premix has extensive experience in the field of conductive composites. Its PRE-ELEC PP18220 semiconductor polypropylene composite is designed specifically for the shielding layer of medium and high voltage cables, with good carbon black dispersion, stable conductivity, and a bending modulus that is compatible with PP insulation materials, ensuring compatibility and stable performance. Tuomas Kiikka, Director of New Business Development at Premix Group, stated that the company utilizes its expertise in the field of conductive materials to help build a cable ecosystem.
The Catalloy Hifax CA 7910A solution provided by LYB is a polypropylene insulation material (PP-TPO) with good mechanical and heat resistance, good consistency, and easy processing, suitable for advanced cable insulation layers.
Michael Berger, Senior Director of LYB Specialty Polymers, said, "This collaboration fully demonstrates the value of polymer innovation - by combining material properties with recyclability, it brings tangible benefits to manufacturers.
Maillefer relies on a multifunctional extrusion production line to ensure process reliability and production efficiency. Its production line includes horizontal and catenary cross-linking systems, with precise temperature control and optimized cooling schemes to reduce shrinkage, ensure uniform insulation layer and cable core quality. Mikko Lahti, Director of Research and Development at Maillefer, stated that the company's technology is one of the driving factors behind this solution and will provide support to customers and partners to assist in the development of cable systems.
