Molex's Quasar OptiX Field-installable Connectors, Designed To Simplify Outdoor Installation, Are Now Available For Purchase On Mouser

July 31, 2025- Providing a wide range of semiconductor and electronic components ™ Mouser Electronics, a well-known new product introduction (NPI) agent in the industry, will start selling Molex's Quasar OptiX on-site installation connector from today. This series of on-site installation connectors allows installers to easily install factory polished connectors and mechanical splice connectors onto optical cables in protected outdoor environments. The Quasar OptiX connector is suitable for network devices, wireless infrastructure, and telecommunications applications, including broadband service provider installations, fiber to X (FTTX) architectures, and distributed access/remote physical layer (PHY) systems.

Molex Quasar OptiX on-site installation connectors enable faster on-site fiber optic cable installation while reducing downtime and maintenance costs. By allowing installation personnel to connect rather than fuse cables, on-site installation of connectors eliminates manual epoxy resin and polishing processes, reduces fixture and training requirements, and improves design flexibility. Compared to fusion splicing, end splicing can be carried out in harsh weather conditions to avoid equipment damage.

The Quasar OptiX connector adopts a high fiber retention design and is equipped with factory polished connection interfaces, which can improve network performance and reduce signal loss. Other features include SC connectors, bare fiber sheathed cables, and single-mode fiber types. On site installation of connectors is suitable for outdoor environments with extreme temperature fluctuations and can operate reliably within a temperature range of -40 ° C to+75 ° C or -25 ° C to+70 ° C (depending on cable type). These high-performance connectors can withstand 500 insertions and removals, support cable retention of 40N/5s, and comply with industry standards IEC 61754-4 and ANSI/TIA-568.3-E.
